Video Compressor Image Convert Privacy Policy
Last updated: 3 November 2026
The short version
Video Compressor Image Convert compresses and converts your photos and videos on your device. Your files are never uploaded to us, and there are no accounts and no sign-up. We use Google Analytics for Firebase and Firebase Crashlytics to understand how the app is used and to fix crashes, and RevenueCat to manage purchases. We do not show ads, we do not track you across other apps or websites, and we never sell your data.
1. Who we are
Video Compressor Image Convert is developed and published by Muntean Holding AS ("we", "our", "us"), a company registered in Norway, trading under the Illebra developer profile. This policy covers the app on iOS and Android, including its Share Extension and share target. On your device the app may appear as "Compressor". You can reach us any time via our contact page.
2. What stays on your device
Everything the app does with your photos and videos happens on your device. The files you choose, their names, sizes, thumbnails and contents are never sent to us or to our service providers. There is no account and no cloud sync.
- Recent. Results you create are kept inside the app for 7 days so you can share them again, then removed automatically. You can clear them at any time in the app.
- Settings and free uses. Your preferences, how many free uses of each extra you have used, and whether you have accepted the terms are stored on the device.
- Your originals. The app creates copies. An original is only deleted in Free Up Space, and only after you confirm deletion in the system's own prompt. On iOS the original goes to Recently Deleted; on Android it goes to Trash.
- Deleting the app. Local data, including Recent, is deleted with the app. Files you saved to Photos or shared elsewhere stay where you put them.
3. What we collect, and why
None of the information below includes your files, their names, their contents, their sizes or where they are stored.
3.1 Analytics — Google Analytics for Firebase
We record in-app events such as which screens are shown, when the paywall is shown, which plan you select, when a purchase starts, completes, is cancelled or fails, when purchases are restored, and which extra (for example Free Up Space or Photos → PDF) you used. Purchase events include the amount and currency charged by the store and the store's transaction and product identifiers. This information is tied to a randomly generated app instance identifier, basic device and app information (device model, operating system version, app version, language and screen size) and an approximate location derived from your IP address. On Android, Google Analytics also collects the advertising identifier provided by the system. We do not use any of this for advertising, we do not build a profile of you, and we never set a user ID or attach your name or email address.
3.2 Crash reporting — Firebase Crashlytics
When the app crashes or hits an unexpected error, we receive a crash report containing the error, a stack trace, your device model, operating system version, app version and the state of the app at the time. It does not include your files or their names. We use it only to reproduce and fix the problem.
3.3 Purchases — RevenueCat and the app stores
Purchases are processed by Apple or Google. We never see or store your payment details. RevenueCat, Inc. receives an anonymous app user identifier, the store's purchase receipt and the technical information needed to validate the purchase and restore it on a new device, so the app knows which plan you own.
3.4 The app stores
Apple and Google process payments and may collect information under their own privacy policies. We receive only what RevenueCat and the stores need to tell us — for example, that a purchase succeeded — never your card details.
4. What we never collect
The app does not ask for or collect your name, email address, phone number, contacts, calendar, precise GPS location, microphone or camera data. We do not collect your photos or videos, their names, their contents, or a list of the files on your device. We do not show ads, and we do not use your data to track you across other apps or websites. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.
5. Permissions the app asks for
- Photos and videos. Read access is requested only when you use Free Up Space, so the app can find your largest videos. On iOS, saving a result asks for add-only access; on Android, saving goes through the system media library and needs no extra permission. The app cannot see the rest of your library for any other purpose.
- Location metadata in photos. On Android, the app may ask for access to location data stored inside your photo files so it can remove that location from the copies it creates. It does not determine or collect your device's location.
- Notifications. Used to show progress while a compression or conversion runs, especially in the background. They are not marketing messages.
- Files. The system file picker gives the app access only to the files you select.
- Network. Used only for Firebase and RevenueCat. Your files are never sent over the network.
You can change these permissions at any time in your device settings. The core compress and convert features keep working without the photo library permission; Free Up Space and saving results need it.
6. Legal bases
Where the GDPR applies, we rely on our legitimate interest in keeping the app working, fixing crashes and understanding which features are used; on performance of a contract when you buy a plan; and on your consent where the law requires it. You can object to processing based on legitimate interests at any time by contacting us. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time without affecting processing already carried out. We do not use automated decision-making or profiling that produces legal effects. Uninstalling the app stops all further collection from that installation and deletes the local data.
7. Who we share it with
We share data only with the service providers that run these features:
- Google LLC — Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics.
- RevenueCat, Inc. — purchase management.
- Apple Inc. and Google LLC — payment processing and app distribution.
They act on our instructions or, for their own services, under their own policies. We do not sell your data, and we do not share it for advertising. We may disclose information if required by law or if necessary to protect our rights.
8. How long we keep it
- On your device: until you clear it, delete the app, or the 7-day Recent period ends.
- Analytics: according to our Firebase retention setting, up to 14 months.
- Crash reports: up to 90 days.
- Purchase records: for as long as needed to provide and restore your purchase, and longer where tax or accounting law requires it.
9. International transfers
Google and RevenueCat are based in the United States. Where personal data leaves the EEA or the UK, transfers rely on the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and, where applicable, the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. You can ask us for more information about the safeguards we use.
10. Your rights
If you are in the EEA or the UK, the GDPR gives you the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing of your personal data, and to data portability. If you are a California resident, the CCPA/CPRA gives you the right to know what we collect, to delete it and to correct it; we do not sell or share personal information as those laws define it. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us and we will respond within 30 days. Because the app has no accounts, we may not be able to identify data as yours from your name or email; if that happens we will explain what we can and cannot do. You can also stop all further collection by uninstalling the app, and you can reset or limit your advertising identifier in your device settings. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to your local data protection authority — in Norway, Datatilsynet.
11. Children
Video Compressor Image Convert is a general-audience utility and is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has used the app, contact us; because we do not collect names or accounts, the simplest way to remove local data is to delete the app.
12. Third-party policies
- Google Privacy Policy (Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics, Google Play)
- RevenueCat Privacy Policy
- Apple Privacy Policy
13. Changes to this policy
If we change how the app handles data we will update this page and the "last updated" date above. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes or in the app before they take effect.
14. Contact
